Too early to have informed view of other members. Some might say I am the one who is a bit odd and socially inept, so perhaps I might fit in in a couple of years.
Jeff
I went for 5 weeks, I did meet a couple of nice people, the big sweaty biker bloke wearing a pink dress did stand out a bit though!

I went to one in atherton, some very very strange people there.... good luck with the entry though

Recently purchased a "Hama Traveller Compact Pro", £25 from Amazon it weighs 1.5kgs.
I was dubious because of the price but most of the user reviews spoke well of it so I gave it a go, been delighted with it so far.
Don't know how the 1.5 kgs compares to your Manfrotto and you may want to go for one of the super light carbons but they are obviously not cheap.
I have one too very good for the money..

1st video... yes mental..
2nd video..... they are riding fairly slowly, though I have never ridden those paths I have ridden through quarries and down very narrow paths through heavily wooded forests I don't really see that much danger..... and if you are going to kill yourself would you not want to die doing what you love rather than go with no dignity in a hospital bed? I only stopped riding after a bad experience with a tree branch sticking out at head height then realising I maybe getting too old to take the risk of not being able to pay the mortgage.
as for risks.... did I mention I had to run out of the way of 3 cars this year while capturing photo's of cars racing.....

I dont know much about micro systems but can you not get old skool lenses from the bay of E?
-
you would need at least 300mm and a cable release or timer... but with 17mp you will be able to crop right in..

could XP be the problem I wonder...... have you tried using the app JUST on the Ipad with the PC off?
-
you need to add the app to all your devices, then make them all viewable as a network, My canon MG4250 was fairly easy.

I have had quite a lot of images shown on ITV weather. but that's about it the last one about 2 weeks ago.
Give it a go Leon nothing ventured nothing gained!
I'm just trying to find where to send them too?
-
I seldom send pictures to the TV stations or other places where you receive nothing in return, but do look for competitions elsewhere.
Whilst I have never won anything major I have had a few small prizes for example: last month I received a £25 voucher from WEX for 3rd place in the 'summer' competition.
If you fancy a go:-
