I would never have known that the older versions of elements would not open raw files on newer camera's. I am running 9 phew!

a similar question came up on the photography for beginners page on facebook the other day. I said that if it was a public place like a park or beach or high street, nobody could stop you taking photographs, unlike a private building like a shopping centre or such. some bloke replied that if he was in a park or such and I took a photo that may have caught him he would 'punch my lights out'....bit uncalled for I thought!
I find a lot of this is plain stupid, and get round it by having the cable release attached the my hs20, with the pull out swivel display screen they don't notice i am taking a nice pic of my gran kids sitting on a seat scoffing ice cream in their precious shopping centres...ha!
I was approached by two life guards in an out door public swimming pool while taking pictures of my two gran kids while they were sitting on the grass having a break from the pool, that turned into a right row, as they were only young and said in such loud voices that they did not allow people to wander in and take pictures of kids and if I persisted they would confiscate my camera, i asked them to point out where was the sign that stated 'no photography' they couldn't....lol! then when they thought they was losing the argument and i said it was very wrong of them to accuse me of taking pictures of random kids regardless of their rules, they said camera's were not allowed in case they got broke and glass from the lens got in the pool, never mind the people sitting around with bottles of fizz...!
there are so many people using the camera on their phones, how do they police that one then?

they were the most gorgeous set of pictures.
congrats bp....well done Thomas

I always use elements to open raw files. I have never loaded the software for my camera's onto the computer. I am sure someone here will be able to help you with this one martyn..

I just resize to 800 on the longest length....that's ok isn't it? can't see I would have a prob with anyone wanting to nick one of mine..
-
oh right.......d'oh! that shows how dumb I am then..........
I don't do save for web.............
-
I have noticed the phrase 'save for web' mentioned a few times today. what does it mean, should I be doing it, can my cameras do it, what is the purpose of it?
-
but I decided on the back pack as it has chest and waist straps top spread the weight
I treated my self to a fishing rucksack, even has a built in stool which comes in handy for a break and also saves my poor knees when doing those low down macro shots. ok so it has not got all the different compartments inside, but as I don't have shed loads of gear it works for me. I do have a lowpro over the shoulder bag, I always wear it round my waist, I find it to heavy carrying stuff on my shoulder...

that would make life far too easy and cheap nanny..!

I had a fantastic day a year ago walking from Dedham to flatford mill, however the long walk back was hideously long ad hot.

glad your all home safe and sound from your trip leon, and glad everything was fine when you reached home. it's always on the last leg of a trip I start worrying, especially coming round the final corner. we was abroad once and my eldest son had been 'jumped' on by a gang while he was walking home from work, they broke his cheek bone and jaw. the other kids kept it from us, but the whole of the last week of our holiday I had a feeling something was not right.

hello paul.....

oooo blackrox..facebook was our life line when tipf had that problem last year wasn't it. the guys worked so hard to get the site back up and running, lord how we missed tipf.
I don't use any other sites, had too many horrible experiences on them. why one grown adult feels the need to sit behind a computer and bully others is beyond me.
I am quiet sure offering 'critique' does not mean slating someone's picture or picking holes in it, but there are people who just love to do it and I am sure it's just to cause an uproar.
tipf is the best, long may it stay this way....

i'm the same. I have binned a whole days worth before. but before I delete them from the computer forever, I have a look through them, I have salvaged a few from the bin.

Helloooooooo !

yes, big thanks to phil and all the gang for keeping tipf running. I remember last year and the problem when they had to get it back up and running, they worked so hard bless them.
